District water quality testing laboratory accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) was inaugurated by Chairman DWSM & Deputy Commissioner, Shanavas C IAS at PHED Water Treatment Plant, Phezhu, Jotsoma on 5th January 2023.

During the inaugural programme, he mentioned the side effects and different chemicals present in the water which are not only harmful to users but for generations to come.

He spoke about the benefits of the NABL laboratory and mentioned that other developed countries are cautious of what they drink and we should also learn and implement that in our life.

Urban Division Kohima Lab. Head & Executive Engineer Er. Subongyanger stated that under Jal Jeevan Mission all the Laboratories are to be NABL accredited and the infrastructure and processes of water testing laboratories should comply with NABL standards and protocols. The accreditation will ensure a seamless improvement in terms of resources and competence of the laboratories in years to come and help laboratories generate valid results and finally ensure that drinking water supplied in every household in rural/ urban Nagaland is safe for consumption.

He also mentioned the benefits of NABL for the people as an assurance of genuine reports from accurately calibrated testing, confidence in personal performance tests, elimination of the need for re-testing thereby saving money and time, satisfaction from the service provider, and better control of the laboratory operations and feedback.

Earlier, Vibou Seyie chaired the programme, the invocation was done by WATSAN Chairman Vithato. Dziesetseinuo Kiso, Quality Manager (Chemist) gave the introduction to the lab and technical report NABL Lab. While a vote of thanks was delivered by District Co-ordinator, Ashale Seb.
