The Combined Teachers’ Day Celebration, organised by the Sub-Divisional Planning & Development Board (SDPDB) Pughoboto, was held with great enthusiasm at the Pughoboto Headquarters on 5th September with Dr. Sukhato A. Sema, MLA of 13 Pughoboto Assembly Constituency, gracing the occasion as the Special Guest.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sukhato A. Sema paid rich tributes to teachers, describing them as the “architects and pillars of society.” Reflecting on his humble beginnings as the son of a village school teacher, he shared his educational journey through a government primary school and credited his success and personal growth to the guidance and dedication of his teachers.

Reminding students of the significant role teachers play in shaping their future, Dr. Sema urged them to uphold the values of discipline, respect, and honour. “Your success is not just your own,” he said, “but a catalyst for change in your families, churches, villages, and the society at large.”

The MLA also emphasised the critical role of students in the future development of society and encouraged them to work hard and aim high. He reiterated his commitment to improving the education sector, envisioning a future where every citizen has access to quality education and becomes a competent, contributing member of society.

Dr. Sema further lauded the recent achievement of seven successful candidates from his constituency in the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) examinations. He congratulated them and attributed their success to the relentless efforts of their teachers.

The celebration began with an invocation by Ahovi Swu, Pastor of PTBC, followed by greetings from Tiameren Chang, NCS, ADC Pughoboto. Students from various schools presented special performances, adding colour to the event. Alovili H. Wotsa from Mission School delivered a short speech on behalf of the teaching community, expressing gratitude and dedication to their noble profession.

A special prayer for teachers was offered during the program, and Hutoka Assumi, President of Sumi Aphuyemi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu, delivered the vote of thanks. The event concluded with a benediction by Hukato Sheqi, Pastor of NCRC Pughoboto.

The day-long celebration served as a heartfelt tribute to the teaching fraternity, recognising their role in nation-building and shaping future generations.
