A review meeting on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls 2026 was held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Dimapur, on August 21, 2026, in the presence of Secretary, Election Commission of India, Binod Kumar.
The meeting began with introductory remarks, followed by a PowerPoint presentation by Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, on the current status and progress of the SIR exercise in the district.
Addressing the meeting, Binod Kumar highlighted the importance of Enumeration Forms (EFs) and stressed the need for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to closely monitor the work being carried out by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) at the field level. He interacted with the electoral officials and reviewed the challenges being faced at the field level.
The officials were urged to intensify efforts to improve the mapping percentage and ensure that the electoral roll data is accurately updated. The BLOs were also advised to carry out thorough verification and mapping at the grassroots level and coordinate closely with the concerned electoral officials. He also emphasised timely completion of the mapping exercise and the need for greater coordination among DEOs, EROs, AEROs and BLOs to achieve the desired progress.
BLOs from the three Assembly Constituencies (ACs) under Dimapur were identified for the review which includes those attached to Khel Chakesang Colony E/W, Bank Colony and Pranab Vidyapith School Area under Dimapur-I AC; Under Dimapur-II AC, BLOs from Duncan Village “B” N/W, Industrial Village/Razphuphe-1 DC, Zeliangriang “A” and Government Higher Secondary School have been listed; Under Dimapur-III AC, BLOs from Toulazouma, Toulazouma-I and Longsen have been identified respectively.
Following the review meeting, Binod Kumar visited two polling stations under the 3-Dimapur-III Assembly Constituency to assess the progress of the SIR exercise and field-level implementation.
