SDO, Electrical Sub-Division, Wokha Er.Thanyalo Kath has informed that it has come to the notice that rampant electricity theft is prevailing by means of illegal connection and whereas under Section 135 of the Indian Electricity Act 2003 illegal connection, hooking, looping of electric supply line or tampering with meter is a punishable offence.

And therefore, it has come to the notice of the undersigned that there are such cases in Wokha town which has led to damage of transformers and electrical appliances of other consumers.

It has been notified that such cases once caught will be strictly dealt as per provisions of the Law. Respective colony chairman are directed to take note and prevent illegal connection for better power supply to the colony. Further it is to be mentioned that any electrical connection has to be taken through proper procedure.
