As part of an ongoing Tobacco Free Youth Campaign which was launched on 31st May 2023 on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, an Enforcement drive was carried out by the enforcement Squad under National Tobacco Control Programme Mon on 14th June 2023 at Mon Town near educational institutions, a massive amount of tobacco products were seized and destroyed at the premises of Police Station. A total number of 15 defaulters was penalized under COTPA Sec 6(b). The raid was also to check the compliance of COTPA Sec.6-b which prohibits the selling of tobacco products within 100 yards of educational institutions.
