To commemorate the month of World No Tobacco Day 2023 and also to strengthen COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act) 2003 in the district, an Enforcement Squad under National Tobacco Control Programme Mon carried out a surprise raid on the sale of tobacco products near the school area on 9th May 2023. A total number of 15 shops violated COTPA Sec 6(b) and a total number of two shops violated COTPA Sec 6(a).

The defaulters were penalized and tobacco products were seized and destroyed at the premises of Police Station Mon.
