For effective implementation of COPTA 2003, an enforcement drive on sale of tobacco products within 100 yards of educational institutions was carried out under National Tobacco Control Programme (NTPC) on 26th March 2021 at Mon Town. The team consisting of representatives from District Administration, Excise Department, Police and Konyak Student Union (KSU) was led by District Nodal Officer NTCP Mon, Dr. I. Simon Sumi and District Consultant NTCP Mon, Nyeamying Konyak. 

            25 shops around educational institutions were found selling tobacco products. The team seized the products and burnt the items in a dumping area.
