Exporters Conclave organised by the District Industry institute Kohima in collaboration with the Department of Industries and Commerce Nagaland was held at the Conference Hall of Industries Directorate Kohima with Guest of honour Additional Deputy Commissioner Kohima N.Bhavani Sri as the Guest of Honour on 25th September 2021.
Speaking on the occasion Bhavani said that one of the problems faced by the farmers is the lack of linkage with the market. She added that though the climatic conditions give surplus production most of the time the produce get spoilt for the lack of proper packaging and cold storage facilities. She encouraged the farmers to go for crops that suit the soil and climatic conditions and informed that the recent inaugurating of soil testing laboratory in Kohima will be able to identify the types of crops which will enable to boost the productions level.
Bhavani mentioned that our focus should be based on our natural resources available and added that Entrepreneurship needs to be encouraged in our set up because there are people who are making profit out of our produces. She stated that Government alone cannot function so locally we need to integrate our own resources to earn livelihood and for income generation. The guest of honour inaugurated the Exhibition stall of the Exporters Conclave.
Joint Director Er. Y. Lipongse Thongstar in his keynote address said that Exporters’ Conclave is to showcase for the promotion of export oriented products inorder to promote trade and export of local Agri-horti produces, processed food products, Handloom and Handicrafts and various exportable products and also to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Indian Independence under the theme “Showcasing India as a rising Economic Force”.
Chairman of the programme was Functional Manager Sub-IC Tseminyu Y.Intsangju, welcome address was delivered by Additional Director industries and commerce Vitsutho Nyuthe and vote of thanks by General Manager DIC Kohima Suhonial Langthasa. The event is organized by the District Industries Centre (DIC) Kohima, in collaboration with Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Agriculture and Export Products Development Authority of India (APEDA), Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and District Administration.
