The felicitation programme for the State awardees in the handicraft category was held at the Conference Hall, Directorate of Industries and Commerce on 25th April 2023. 

A total of 30 individuals were awarded in different categories of arts. Kekhrievor Kevichusa Commissioner and Secretary (I&C) was the special guest of the programme and Padma Shree awardee 2023 Neihuno Sorhie was also present in the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Kevichusa spoke on the significance of the award function and stated that hard work and dedication give them awards which is a good name for self, for the community, and for the state in particular. He also advised the awardees not to stop there but keep striving so that all will excel in life. Award-winning also opens up avenues for the self-business and makes them legible for future national and other such prestigious awards. "We expect changes and progress in the textile sector of the state and for which the department and the awardees should be cooperative to bring the textile to the greater highs and will become competitive with the neighboring states," he added.

Padma Shree 2023 awardee Neihunuo also encouraged and congratulated the awardees at the function. She also shared her journey toward the civilian highest award, she also appreciated her mother for teaching, encouraging, and guiding her.

A. Temjen Jamir Director of Industries and Commerce in his keynote address highlighted that the award was being given by the Ministry of Textile in 67 categories based on criteria like design, techniques, materials used, traditions, etc.
