On July 18, 2023, the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, in collaboration with Tzula(Dikhu) Green Zone Project Management Committee(TGZPMC), organized an Awareness Programme on River Ranching, where thousands of fingerlings were released into the Dikhu River(Green Zone).

During the event, Rongsenungba, Director of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, expressed gratitude to the villages of Ungma and Longsa for their commendable initiatives. He emphasized that preserving the environment is the most effective way to combat global warming. Applauding the vision of these two villages in declaring the Dikhu River (within their jurisdiction) as a Green Zone, he highlighted its significance in mitigating climate change and global warming on a global scale. He further urged the villages to enforce strict restrictions on unethical fishing and impose a total ban on fishing, especially during the three-month breeding season.

The event featured short speeches by the Chairman of Ungma Village Council and Longsa Village Council. Imliyanger, Chairman of TGZPMC, delivered the welcome address, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Temsutoshi Longkumer, Finance Secretary of TGZPMC.
