The Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources in collaboration with ICAR- Central Institute of Fresh Water Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneswar, Odisha, under the project “Mission Stunted Fingerlings and Species Diversification for Development of Fisheries at Ura & Diezephe village, Dimapur District” distributed Amur Carp and Singhi seeds to the farmers on 2nd March 2021.

            A short distribution programme was held at Government Brooders Fish Farm, Dimapur, where Sub Divisional Fishery Officer, Khriezhato Nakhro, gave a brief overview of the project and highlighted the future activities. Assistant Director & Nodal Officer of the programme highlighted on the significance of genetically improved varieties of fish seeds in scientific fish farming practices and further urged the farmers of the state to adopt the new technologies and improved varieties of fish to increase the productivity per unit area and reduce dependency on low quality fishes imported from other states.

            He also expressed his gratitude to the Director, ICAR-CIFA, Dr. S.K. Swain and Principal Scientist & Nodal Officer for NEH, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Dr. P. P. Chakrabarti for sanctioning and providing all necessary assistance towards the project.
