Federation of Nagaland State Engineering Service Associated (FONSESA) celebrated its Engineer’s Day 2025, under the theme ‘Deep Tech & Engineering Excellence: Driving India’s Techade’ at NPWD Conference Hall, Kohima on 15th September 2025.

Er. P.I. Imna Ao, Engineer-in-Chief NPWD, in his keynote address signified that Engineer’s Day is observed annually in India on 15th September to mark the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna, Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a visionary engineer, statesman, a nation builder, and a miner of modern engineering who is remembered for his immense contribution to the development of India.

He said that engineers by their very nature are problem solvers as they turn challenges into opportunities and ideas into reality and reasoned that as every aspect of our daily life bears the imprint of engineering, today’s engineering is not just about structure, machines and circuits but about innovation with responsibility.  Er. P.I. Imna Ao therefore stated that as the world stands in a critical juncture, facing issues such as climate change, inflation of natural resources, urbanisation and digital security, he said engineers hold the key to developing sustainable technologies, renewable energy solutions, smart infrastructures and digital resilience. He highlighted that the role of an engineer is to expand beyond technical expertise to improve social responsibility, environmental stewardship and ethical leadership.

He also called upon the engineers that as they celebrate Engineers’ Day, to be reminded that engineering is ultimately about service to humanity, the tools and technology created must not only advance progress, but also uphold the beliefs of inclusiveness, sustainability, well-being, delegation, discipline and excellence. He also reminded them that excellence in engineering is not only about greatness and skill, but also about sincerity in execution, carrying responsibility, innovating, designing thoughtfully, building with a vision, and ensuring that skill not only serves the demands of today but also creates pathways for greater growth and to ponder upon how services are delivered to the people.

Er. Shiludi Longkumer, Secretary General, FONSESA (APEN) in his technical presentation highlighted ‘Smart Prepaid Metering’ under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). He shared the objectives of RDSS and the scheme under RDSS., he also highlighted Smart Pre-Paid Meter and its system architecture and pointed out the advantages of Smart Pre-Paid Meter.

During the programme, President, FONSESA, Er. Fineson Pojar proposed the welcome address, while PRO, FONSESA Er. Ekon Murry, pronounced the vote of thanks and was chaired by Vice President, FONSESA, Er. Seyievizo Tsukru. A special song was also presented by Er. Lumchungla T. Sangtam, AOE APWD.
