Under Atma Nirbhar Bharat Scheme (ANBY) free food grains were distributed to 323 house hold consisting of around 474 members on 13th June 2020 at Tiyi hall, Wokha by the department of Food & Civil Supplies Wokha.
ANBY is a part of the Government of India initiative for economic measures for providing food grains free of cost to the stranded migrants and labourers who are not covered under National Food Security Act or State Public Distribution System (PDS). The free ration includes 5Kgs of rice per person per month and one Kilogram of Chana per person per month, this scheme will last for a period of two months that is May and June 2020.
The main objective of the scheme is to help or mitigate their plight during this precarious COVID-19 pandemic crisis and to ensure availability of food grains to the.
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Orenthung Lotha while handing over the free ration lauded the GOI initiative and coming up with such schemes to help the stranded citizens, he also asked the stranded citizens to inform authority in case of any difficulty and problem faced by them during such pandemic so that their problems can be addressed.
