A basic course in screen acting training conducted by the Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) came to an end on 3rd June 2022 at the Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Kohima. The 10-day online training was held from 23rd May to 3rd June 2022 and was conducted by FTII in collaboration with the Department of Information & Public Relations, Nagaland, the nodal department for films in Nagaland.
Resource person of the training, Anita Salim expressed her happiness at the progress made by the students. She hoped that the students will continue to work hard and make a name for themselves.
During the course of the training, the participants were taught on various exercises on improvisation, visualization, imagination, monologue etc. They were also taught on how to get in character, interact and use their surrounding.
The participants appreciated FTII and IPR for conducting the training. Sasha Pienyii, a participant, stated that she learned about technical acting adding that it has made a huge impact in her acting. Mayangniken said that the training has helped him to learn to adapt to his surrounding and also helped him in public speaking. Kikrupfelie Neikha stated that personal interaction with the teacher has helped him to learn a lot more. Viketoulie stated that he learnt how to be a little more confident and has found new inspiration to be able to work in larger groups. Rajat Limbu said through the training, he has been exposed to the department of acting and films, his perspective of learning and teaching film and art has been positively broaden.
Anita Salim, the resource person, is an alumnus of FTII who has performed in various plays and has been conducting various workshops for students, amateurs and professionals since 1984. She co-founded of The Phoenix Players, where she is also an actor, mentor and producer. Aaryama Salim, Anita's son, who is also an actor, took up a session where he shared on makeup & costume.
As part of the country wide celebrations under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav of Government of India, FTII has decided to advance the cause of film education by conducting online short courses, free of cost, for scheduled tribes participants residing in the State. It has successfully conducted trainings in smartphone film making and screenplay writing in January and April this year respectively. It may be mentioned that film appreciation course will be held in the coming days.
