A one-day gender sensitivity training program for Village functionaries and Anganwadi workers was held at the CDPO office, Jakhama, on June 21, 2025. The training was organised under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative by the Kohima District Administration in collaboration with SANKALP-District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Kohima.

The program aimed to raise awareness on gender equality and prevent gender-based discrimination at the grassroots level. The program was chaired by Vikeduozo, Gender Specialist, DHEW, Kohima.

Sokhrienuo Rupreo, Area Coordinator, NSRLM, RD Block Jakhama, addressed the gathering on the topic of Gender equality. She emphasised the need for equal opportunities and rights for all genders and encouraged village-level workers to promote inclusive practices within their communities.

Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Jakhama, Zubemo Jami, spoke on the topic of Prevention of Child Marriage. He described child marriage as a critical social issue that hinders the development of young girls and boys, which violates their rights. Highlighting the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006, he urged all stakeholders to be vigilant and proactive in identifying and preventing such cases in their respective areas.

The training program aimed to strengthen the role of community-level workers in promoting gender-sensitive practices and ensuring the welfare of women and children through the effective implementation of government schemes.
