Government Higher Secondary School Peren celebrated its 75th anniversary at School premises on 22nd October 2022 with Retd. IAS & Advisor for School Education & SCERT, K.T. Sukhalu as the special guest.

He unveiled the Jubilee monolith which was followed by the Jubilee Anthem.

Sukhalu said that after going through the history of the school and the commitment and concern for the community felt happy and proud of the school for its performance and contribution. Advisor also encouraged the gathering to impart quality education with good infrastructure and urged the parents to focus and invest more in education. He also said that the government is trying its best to ensure education in the interior areas. Sukhalu also advised the teachers to be sincere in duty and stay committed to students in imparting education and to ensure good enrolment in the school for infrastructural development.

            Former Chief Minister & Chairman UDA, TR. Zeliang who graced the occasion as the Chief Host said that it is very fortunate for him to witness the occasion with officials from School Department and other dignitaries present. Zeliang extended his appreciation and spoke on the service rendered by the teaching faculties, management board, pioneers, and non-teaching staff of the GHSS for the upliftment of the school. He encouraged the students and others to remember the teachers who uphold the culture and traditions of the people. GHSS is one of the most fortunate schools in the district and said that from an economic point of view it is a big relief for the students for being upgraded in the science stream with qualified teachers. He acknowledged the teachers for their dedication and efforts in delivering successful results for the students each year. Zeliang also spoke on the importance of the NEP project sponsored by the World Bank livelihood and appealed to the school officials to start implementing the project at the earliest and said that institutions act as an incubator for the students to achieve quality heights.

            Others who spoke in the program included Principal Director School Education, Thavaseelan. K. IAS, Chairman NBSE, Asano Sekhose, Retd. Asst. Director and former Headmaster, Suipeu Iheilung and former Minister, Neiba Ndang. 

The schools also honored the alumni, former heads of the school, asst. heads, and supporting staff for their immense contributions to the school.

Other highlights of the program were Cultural shows, the release of a Souvenir, and a special presentation by students of GHSS.

The formal programme was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Peren, Keyirangding Hegui, (NCS) and compered by Kebana Thou & Suilunglie Mbungcha while SDO (C), Kemciyile proposed the vote of thanks.
