Governor of Assam and Nagaland, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi visited Kiphire Village on 10th February 2022 where a reception program was held in his honour at public ground. He was received by men and women folk in their traditional attire and received the rashtriya salute from the Village Guards.
The Governor while addressing the public appreciated the people of Kiphire Village for preserving the tradition and culture and expressed his love of the unique Naga traditions. He encouraged the gathering to implement indigenous language in primary schools to preserve and to promote culture. Prof. Mukhi said that during his visits to educational institutions, he found a lot of deficiency to be implemented. He assured that he would pursue the needs of Zizaji Presidency College, Kiphire to the Government.
While visiting Government Higher Secondary School, the Governor said the demand for Science stream in GHSS assured to pursue seriously to upgrade. He also said that Naga Students are studying in different parts of the country in search of good institutions, where he said that all facilities and infrastructure should be provided within Nagaland for better education in the state. Prof. Mukhi also said that the JNV School is going to coming up with Science, Commerce and Arts streams, where students from villages can study in the school and added that the construction will be completed by March or April 2023.
The Governor interacted with the Kiphire village leaders, teachers and students. He also interacted with JNV construction engineers, contractor and other officials. Other highlights of the programme included traditional fire making and folk dances. The National Anthem was presented by Kiphire Village Students’ Union. Welcome address was delivered by Sethrongba Y Sangtam while vote of thanks was delivered by Akokba, President, KVSU.
