A felicitation programme for the award of Governor’s Certificate of Excellence, 2021 on essay competition under the topic “Relevance of Gandhiji’s thoughts for building a peaceful and prosperous Nagaland” on account of Gandhi Jayanti 2021 was held at Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Hall, Kohima on 3rd November 2021. Additional Deputy Commissioner Kohima, N. Bhavani Sri, IAS who chaired the programme gave a brief account of the essay competition. She said that on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti 2021, as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and at the initiative of Raj Bhavan, all the districts were asked to organise the essay competition for the students of High Schools and Higher Secondary Schools in all the districts of Nagaland. Accordingly, the Kohima District level essay competition was conducted in online mode on the topic as notified and out of 57 participants from 18 schools, Vijayanand V. Thomas, class – 12 from Rüzhükhrie Higher Secondary School, Kohima won the first prize who was awarded prize money of Rs, 25,000/- and certificate while Alinen Kent, class – 12 from Stella Higher Secondary School bagged the second prize who received a prize money of Rs. 15,000/- and certificate. Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie NCS gave away the first prize and Principal Director (DSE), Shanavas, C. IAS gave away the second prize. (DPRO, Kohima)
