The District Health Society, Wokha conducted a Health Mela for Bhandari block level in commemoration of 75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav at Town Hall, Bhandari on 28th April 2022.

Speaking in the kick off programme of the mela, DVBO, Wokha, Dr. William Humtsoe highlighted that delivering quality health care services and providing essential medicine at free of cost is not only to provide health benefit to the people but also to help them understand the importance of timely investigation, detection, treatment and recovery.

Senior Medical Officer, CHC Bhandari, Dr. Caroline T who chaired the programme said that while it was encouraging to witness a large turnout of people during the day long mela. She said they should continue to avail the health care facilities which are carefully and systematically provided under various health care programmes since there is no substitute for wellbeing and living a healthy life.

Chairman, Lotha Hoho Bhandari, Tachow Lotha appreciated the concerned departments for bringing the much needed health care programme to the doorstep of the people under Bhandari block.

Key services such as were general OPD care, dental, eye care and screening, child, mother and pregnancy care, vaccination for infants and Covid-19, Ayush and counseling for substance abuse, addiction and awareness on HIV/Aids, etc. made available during the health mela.

Information, education & communication on health care and related services were also disseminated through informative pamphlets, fliers and booklets in the same program. A special focus was given to old age citizens, pregnant and nursing mothers, teenagers and students in regard to self and social hygiene and all-round health related care.
