Independence Day was celebrated at the Local Ground in Medziphema Town, Sub-Division. Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education and SCERT, graced the occasion as the special guest.
Yhome unfurled the National Flag upon his arrival and took the Rashtriya Salute. The National Anthem was sung by students of SFS Higher Secondary School, Medziphema. The parade contingents were then inspected by the Advisor, followed by his Independence Day speech. Eight contingents participated in the March Past, led by Parade Commander Arenla Jamir ABI NAPTC Chumukedima and Second in Command Imlamongba ABSI Commissioner of Police Dimapur. The participating contingents included NAPTC Chumukedima, GHSS Medziphema, King David Hr. Sec School Medziphema, Chakhro Baptist Mission School Medziphema, NCC (Girls) SFS Hr Sec. School, SFS Hr Sec School, Modern Christian School, and Rivenburg School with Pipe Band from SFS Higher Secondary School Medziphema.
The celebration featured a cultural presentation by Medziphema Village Council. The event also included the inspection of a flower stall by the Advisor installed by Medziphema locals. Awards for the best contingent in the March Pass/Parade were given to SFS Higher Secondary School and King David Higher Secondary School Medziphema.
The celebration saw the attendance of around 1500 people, including government servants, GBs (Gaon Buras), NGOs, public leaders, students, and the general public. The program concluded with the traditional beating of retreat ceremony.
