The town of Pungro and its surroundings joined commemorated Independence Day at the Public Ground in Pungro. The special guest for the occasion was S. Kiusumew Yimchunger, Advisor for Fire & Emergency Services, Home Guards & Civil Defence, and Relief & Rehabilitation. The special guest hoisted the national flag and received the Rastriya salute, followed by parade contingents and a meaningful speech for the 77th year of Independence. The event further featured exhibitions by various NGOs/SHGs and government departments, and certificates of merit were awarded to distinguished individuals. Notable participants included NVG Pungro village, GHSS Pungro, LFS Pungro, Christian School Pungro, ASMS Pungro, MHBS Pungro, GMS Pungro town, NVG Band Party Zhimkiur village, among others. The celebration embraced cultural performances, including a patriotic song by Pungro Village Women Cultural Troupe and Taekwondo demonstrations. The special guest inaugurated CCTV installation at Pungro Police Station. An exhibition football match between civil societies and government service XI capped off the Day's celebrations. Celebration concluded with the beating of retreat by 8th NAP Pungro.
