Wokha district joined the nation in celebrating the 77th Independence Day at the local ground in Wokha. The event saw the presence of Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA, Government of Nagaland graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The MLA read out the Independence Day 2023 speech. The program included several significant events, such as the feeding of inmates at Sub-Jail Wokha by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), contributions to various hospitals by local organizations, cultural performances by women's troupes, a drill display by Bethsaida School Wokha, and an instrumental piece by K. Libemo Jami. A parade featuring ten contingents, including a band party from Fernbrook School, showcased unity and pride.

The occasion culminated with the MLA inaugurating stalls set up by different departments and Self Help Groups, reflecting the diversity of contributions to the district's growth.
