Aboi celebrated 76th Independence Day on 15th August 2022 with Member of Legislative Assembly, Eshak Konyak as special guest. The celebration was held at local ground, Aboi. 

The MLA unfurled the tricolour National Flag and felicitated the gathering on the auspicious day of Independence Day.  Independence day speech was delivered by the Special Guest which was followed by the inauguration of the exhibition cum sale stalls. 

MLA took the salute from 12 contingencies namely, 11th IRB Battalion Aboi, Langmeing VG, GHSS- NCC Contingents and Students, Wangka High School, Boys & Girls, St John School, Ying Angh School, Longshang Memorial High School, Emmanuel High School, Paramount High School, G.M.S. School Boys & Girls. 

Highlights of the celebration included Cultural Troupe dance by KSNK,Aboi, Group song by Little Flower School and patriotic dance by Longshang Memorial High School.

The evening programme consisted of exhibition matches between Volleyball exhibition match between KNSK vs ATSU (women) and Football match 11th NAP (IR) vs ATSU (Men)
