The celebration at Mokokchung was held at Imkongmeren Sports complex.

Minister for Rural Development & SIRD, Nagaland Metsubo Jamir on the occasion hoisted the ceremonial National flag and delivered the Independence Day speech. He also inspected 12 parade contingents commanded by parade commander, Chuba Chang, NPS SDPO (HQ) Mokokchung, and 2nd parade Commander ABI, K. Meren Jamir, 2nd NAP Bn.

Highlights of the day’s programme included the presentation of a cultural dance by Cultural Club Khensa, a Pipe Band Display by 23rd Assam Rifles, and an exhibition Tug of War match between All Ward Union Mkg and Mkg Town GB Union.

On the occasion, the Minister also presented the District Awardees 2022 to the following recipients: Lanuningsang Dobashi-II, Office of EAC Ongpangkong; Lal Bahadur, Sanitation worker cum Sweeper, Office of the Changtongya Town Council; Along Jamir, Gaon Bura (GB) Tongdentsu Yong ward, President Mokokchung District GB Association; Neem Bahadur Gurung, LDA, Office of Mokokchung Municipal Council and Bendangtoshi, Office Peon, Office of the District Planning Machinery Cell. 

Later in the day, the Minister inaugurated the Exhibition stalls and the newly constructed Basketball court at Imkongmeren Sports Complex.
