Wokha district also celebrated the 76th Independence Day at the local ground Wokha with Deputy Chief Minister, Nagaland, Yanthungo Patton as the special guest. He delivered the Independence Day speech.
Ten parade contingents namely DEF Wokha, 7th NAP, Home Guards, Ex-Army, Mt. Tiyi College NCC, GHSS NCC, DBHSS NCC, Bharat Scout & Guides, and Fernbrook School took part in the march past, the parade was led by Asstt. Commandant 7th NAP Y. Ashito Aye.
Highlights of the programme included the presentation of folk songs by Wokha Town Lakhuti Women Cultural troupes, Zuvotong Cultural Group Humtso village, and poem recitation of “My Unsung Patriotic Song” by Esther T Ngullie. Feeding of Inmates (Sub Jail) was carried out by DLSA, Mhondamo Memorial District hospital by Wokha District Chambers of Commerce & Industries, Dr. Motsuo Memorial hospital by SBI, and 40 Assam Rifles by All Nagaland Taxi Union, Wokha.
The chief guest later inaugurated the stalls put up by various government departments and NGOs.
