Mokokchung:

The 75th anniversary of Indian Independence Day was celebrated at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on 15th August 2021.

Independence Day Speech was read out by Minister, TPT, Land resources, Nagaland, P. Paiwang Konyak. The Parade contingents consisting of 2nd NAP Alichen, 13thNAP (IR) Home Guards & Civil Defence & State Disaster Response Force lead by Parade Commander, Pholosing Sangtam, NPS, DEF Mokokchung, Second in Command, Kitskha Achumi ABI, DEF Mokokchung. As part of the celebration, cultural items were presented by Medem Ruju Cultural club, Mongsenyimti village, Sumi Union, Mokokchung town and Konyak Union, Mokokchung town.

On the occasion, the Minister awarded the District Awards to MTBA Eleos Initiative, for their response towards the COVID-19 pandemic in Mokokchung District, Aotsung Ozukum and Moamongba in recognition of their response to the COVID-19 Pandemic as volunteers in the DTF Ambulance service. Limanungsang Kichu, in recognition of his social service in the district by contributing in various NGOs in the district, also for his pivotal roles in conflict management in ushering amicable settlement in various land disputes between the government and the land owners in the district.

The following villages, Moalenden, Longjemdang A, Khensa, Salulemang, Mongsenyimti, Yaongyimsen, Nukshiyim, Lizo Model villages and Sabangya compound were felicitated for achieving 100 percent COVID-19 vaccination coverage.

Two girl student toppers, Maongla Longchar from Town Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung (11th Rank in the HSLC Examination 2021) and Yashijungla, from Christian Standard Higher Secondary School Changtongya (16th Rank in the HSLC Examination2021) were felicitated on the occasion under District Level Centre for Women-Mahila Shakti Kendra (BBBP). The Minister also inaugurated the Exhibition Stalls set up by the Agri. and allied department.

Noklak:

Minister, Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining, Government of Nagaland V.Kashiho Sangtam hoisted the National Flag on 15th August 2021 at Noklak Hq during the 75th Independence Day celebration.

Minister, V. Kashiho Sangtam took the Rashtriya Salute from the contingent of DEF/3rd NAP Noklak, Village guard Yokao/Panso Hq and Village guard Aniashu. The parade contingents was led by Assistant Commandant 3rd NAP, Logubo Nsu and 2nd Parade Commander ABI, Imkummeren Ao.  The flag man was CHM 3rd NAP Noklak Simon and Pilot driver was Khaikho.

Minister V. Kashiho Sangtam, on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day, urged all to take a pledge to re-dedicated ourselves to work sincerely for bringing positive development in all those areas where we are still lagging behind so that Nagaland soon gets counted amongst the most developed and progressive state of the country. He sought for the cooperation and participation of all citizens, especially the youth, in our common quest to make Nagaland a much better place for the present and future generations.

Sangtam mentioned that, despite the best efforts put in by everyone concerned, however, there have been cases of people succumbing due to COVID-19. Our hearts goes out to all such families who lost their near and dear ones and we pray for giving them strength to bear the irreparable loss that they suffered, he added.

Sangtam paid tribute and extend deepest appreciation to all the healthcare workers and frontline workers in the state and across the world, for the enormous sacrifice that they have made for the cause of humanity.

Other highlights of the day included Presentation of District Commendation Award, which was handed over by Minister, Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining, Government of Nagaland V.Kashiho Sangtam.

Felicitation of students qualified for Sainik School, Punglwa through coaching conducted by 45th Assam Rifles was also handed over by Minister.

Winners of the Open Online Quiz Competition were also declared which was organized by District Adminstration, Noklak as a part of Azadi ki Amrit Mahotsav

The traditional Cultural Dance was performed by Yokao Village guards.

To mark the occasion, Red Cross Society, Noklak visited Community Health Center, Noklak. The occasion ended with the Beating of Retreat by 3rd NAP Noklak.
