The Deputy Commissioner, Shamator, Chubatemjen along with EAC, Shamator, Mekato J. Aye, Shamator flagged off a poster and awareness campaign on “Combating Child Trafficking” at Shamator on 16th February 2026. The program was launched by the district administration in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Shamator.
The campaign aims to sensitise the public on prevention of child trafficking and protection of children’s rights through posters prepared in local dialects, Hindi and English for wider outreach. The posters will be displayed at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Police Station, Community Health Centre, Office of the Specialised Adoption Agency (SAA), Office of the Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO) for distribution to all government schools in the district, all wards under Shamator, taxi counters and other public places in and around Shamator town.
 The district administration stated that sustained grassroots awareness and community participation are essential to combat child trafficking and safeguard children, and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
