A consultative meeting to discuss on the proposed railway belt from Dimapur to Tizit, Mon was held under the Chairmanship of MLA, B. Bangtick Phom, with the affected Villages on 19th September 2024 at Yonglok village, Longleng. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Longleng W. Manpai Phom, SP Longleng, President Phom Peoples Council and the Concerned Village Council.

The Chairman welcomed the House and appealed for active cooperation of all stakeholders for the success of the railway project within Longleng District. It was also made known to the concerned Village authorities of the need to issue No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the finalization of the Project.

After thorough deliberation, key takeaway points are as follows:

1.       Three Villages to be covered/ affected under the proposed railway belt under the District includes Yonglok, Shetep and Namahching Village.

2.      The House agreed upon, as requested by the affected Councils, to initiate for a joint sitting with all the Stakeholders starting from Dimapur and other Villages/towns within the proposed railway belt. Thereon requesting the Concerned MLA to take up the matter with the Chief Minister of Nagaland.

3.      The House in principle agreed upon to issue No Objection Certificate with a condition that the beneficiaries are compensated as per approved Government rate. Furthermore, the demand for a full-fledged railway station at Yonglok Village was met to cater the services of Longleng District.

4.       The Bura Namsang Village Council, on account of being the parent Village of the aforementioned Villages, had No Objection whatsoever with the Developmental activities to be carried out by the Government.
