The Deputy Commissioner Wokha has issued a circular outlining the guidelines for reporting and notifying livestock deaths to claim relief under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). The directive follows a communication received from the Home Department, Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority.

According to the guidelines:

1. Livestock owners must report the death of animals due to disaster within 24 hours to the nearest Veterinary Centre and/or administrative authority for further action.

2. Upon receiving the report, the District Veterinary Officer or field staff must conduct spot verification and assess the situation within three days of the incident.

3. Geo‑tagged photographs of the entire carcass, taken by the owner, must be submitted to the concerned authority.

4. A post‑mortem examination should be conducted by a qualified veterinarian wherever possible.

5. A death certificate must be issued by the District Veterinary Officer after spot verification and confirmation of the cause of death due to disaster.

6. Chief Veterinary Officers are required to maintain proper records of disaster documentation, submit them to the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), and endorse a copy to the Directorate for record.

The circular emphasizes strict adherence to these procedures to ensure timely relief measures and accurate documentation of livestock losses in the district.
