As part of their winter study tour, a group of ten IAS Officer Trainees of the 2025 batch visited the Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM), Chumoukedima on 20th March 2026. The team was led by Group Leader Ira Jorwal and Associate Group Leader Neelesh Goyal.
During the visit, the officer trainees were briefed on the activities and initiatives undertaken by NBHM to promote beekeeping in the state. They were encouraged to act as “Bee Ambassadors” and spread awareness on the importance of honey bees and the potential of beekeeping as a sustainable livelihood option.
The trainees also held an interactive session with NBHM officials, during which they enquired about various aspects of beekeeping, including production, processing, and marketing. They later visited the Honey Processing Plant, which is currently under construction, and the Honey Hub, where they sampled different varieties of Nagaland honey and observed a range of value-added products on display.
The visit was aimed at providing the officer trainees with first-hand exposure to welfare initiatives and schemes of the Government of India and the State Government, enabling them to understand how policies are implemented at the grassroots level.
