Inaugural Programme of Inter District Government Higher Secondary School and Government High School Tournament 2025 funded by Samagra Shiksha Nagaland kicked off at local ground, Medziphema, Chumoukedima on 25th March, 2025 with Advisor, School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome as the chief guest.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Yhome thanked all school administrators for co-operating in this 3 Day sports event. He encouraged the students how sports promote fitness and healthy lifestyle and developed individual talents. He took the cited of two Naga Olympians Chekrovolu Swuro and Dr. T Ao and encouraged the partakers to dream high to globally excel well and bring laurels for the state. He also mentioned and highlighted the objective of Khelo India and stated there are 32 centres in Nagaland so that students can facilitate in all sports areas.
Dr. Yhome urged all the students to perform with professionalism to excel and finished the entire race with excellence whether they win or lose. He also mentioned that the next inter district GHSS and GHS tournament would be held in Tuensang in 2026. He urged the students to make use of this event the best of time and opportunity to excel and develop their talents. He was also hopeful that this event will go bigger and bigger and include all private and central schools too in future.
Participants from all 16 districts will take part in the three-day event programme which will be played in three locations: Local Ground, Government Higher Secondary School Ground and Indoor Stadium Medziphema in 14 disciplines.
The programme was chaired and welcome address by Vitsolie Keyho, Physical Education Officer, special number by Government Higher Secondary School Medziphema, administration of Oath by competition Director and declaration of tournament by the Chief Guest.
The Chief Guest was accompanied by Commissioner & Secretary, School Education and SCERT, Kevileno Angami; State Mission Director, Samagra Shisha and Commissioner & Secretary, IPR, Temsunaro Aier and Principal Director, School Education and Commissioner and Secretary, RD, Thavaseelan IAS.
