MLA & Chairmen SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon inaugurated a 1.6(33/11KV) sub station at Merapani village, Wokha on 4th June 2025.

MLA Kikon, speaking at the inaugural function said that with the inauguration of transformer, the Department will be able to provide sufficient (24x7) uninterrupted power supply and it will help the young people to open a business in various ways. 

He also appealed to the people to check power theft, timely payment of electricity bills and initate awareness programme to conserve electricity for common cause.

The MLA thanked  the Power Ministry, Commissioner Secretary, department officals,  power grid and field workers who were involved in the timely completion of the works.

He also extended his gratitude to the land donors and general public for extending support and co-operation.

EAC Bhandari, Kilangtemsu (NCS) emphasized on the knowledge of conserving the energy when it is not required and how to the pay bill on time. He urged the people to be a responsible citizens. 

Kilangtemsu, while congratulating the power Department for great achievement, also thanked the MLA for an initiative assistance for fulfilling the needs and requirements for the welfare of the people.

The short speeches were also delivered by VCC Merapani Village, Nyamo Odyuo and Town Council Chairman Bhandari, Khonthungya Odyuo. 

The function was chaired by Er. Mhaden Murry, Junior Engineer, Bhandari Section while vote of thanks was delivered by SDO (Sanis Electrical Sub-division), Er. Vungthungo L Murry.

Executive Engineer, Wokha Electrical Division, Er. Chenosing Kemp, while presenting the technical report, said that though a Departmental project, the initiative and assistance from MLA Kikon, Department officals, Merapani Village Council Chairman, Bhandari Town Council, Bhandari Administration, Land owner all have contributed for the installation and construction success of 33 kV Line from Bhandari Town (2.5 MVA,S/S) to Merapani. 

The installation of 1.6 MVA (33/KV) Power Transformer Sub station at Merapani village will cover 21 villages.

The total cost of the proposed project has been estimated to be Rs 1,33,80,200 ( One crore, thirty three lakhs, eighty thousand and two hundred).
