The Mon District Legal Services Authority successfully facilitated the settlement of an insurance claim for Wannung, a resident of Mon on 19th March 2025, after more than six months of persistent legal efforts. She tragically lost her husband, Late Y. Yongna Konyak, in a landslide on 25th June 2022.

The case came to light when SBI contacted Wannung regarding an outstanding Non-Performing Asset (NPA) loan of Rs. 2 lakhs. During this process, Mon DLSA intervened and discovered that she was entitled to an insurance claim under SBI General Insurance through her late husband’s policy. However, her claim had been rejected due to nominee discrepancies and procedural hurdles.

Understanding the urgency of the situation, Mon DLSA immediately stepped in, providing legal guidance, assisting with documentation, and directly coordinating with the insurance provider. Through relentless follow-ups and legal efforts spanning over six months, Mon DLSA successfully ensured that her claim was approved, leading to a Rs.6 lakh settlement.
