The Shamator District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held at DB Hall, Shamator on 12th August 2025, under the chairmanship of MLA & Chairman, DPDB, S. Keoshu Yimchunger.

Various agendas discussed during the meeting were: Proposal for construction of Primary School at Lunthur Village was discussed where the house agreed to forward the proposal after the representative from Lunthur Village, along with the Education Department informed the house that there is no existing government school in the village and apprised the board that with the rising population, the need for a primary school has become a top priority.

Discussing on the State Planning Board’s Agenda for Identification and Acquisition of Land for Integrated Office Complex and Staff Quarters, the Board discussed the proposal for identifying and acquiring a large plot of land for the construction of an Integrated Office Complex and Staff Quarters. The Board emphasized that it would rationalise construction costs and ensure provision of basic necessities such as water supply, power supply, and road connectivity. The board also resolved to take up the matter with all stakeholders, including tribal councils and landowners.

The house also expressed concern over the repeated rejection of DLSB recommendations for land acquisition for new offices. It was decided to request the State-Level Asset Authority (SLAA) to fix the land rate for Shamator district so that the district administration can issue an open notification inviting landowners to sell land at the fixed rate.

With respect to Road Repair and Connectivity Improvement from Shiponger Village to Huker Junction, the Board noted that the road stretch between Shiponger Village and Huker Junction, though taken up under PMGSY Phase-I in 2009–2011, is in deplorable condition. Despite being a lifeline to the State Capital, the road is presently not commutable. In this regard, the house resolved to urge the Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B), to prioritise and scale up the repair and improvement of this road.

For the upgradation of Soil Colony to Soil Ward, the ward representatives along with the Administrator, Town Council proposed the upgradation citing population growth and area expansion. After deliberating on the issue, the house agreed and approved the proposal for upgradation of the colony to ward.

The Chairman thanked all members for their active participation and constructive inputs. The meeting concluded with the resolution to pursue the approved proposals with the concerned departments for timely action.
