In a major effort to bring essential services closer to remote communities, the District Administration Shamator, led by EAC, Mekato J. Aye, conducted a three-day monsoon tour from 2nd - 4th June 2025 to the remote villages of Kuthur, Longtoker, and Sotokur under the banner "Bringing Governance to Your Doorstep."
The tour mobilized a composite team from multiple departments — Medical, Education, Social Welfare, Rural Development, and district-level schemes — to deliver essential services and raise awareness at the grassroots.
Residents were provided with on-the-spot Aadhaar enrolment and correction, CMHIS registration, and help with PRC and IIC form filling, reducing dependency on travel to the district headquarters. The tour also featured focused campaigns on substance abuse prevention (Nasha Mukt Bharat), road safety, tobacco control, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and women's health and empowerment.
The EAC led meetings with Village Councils and VDBs, addressing local concerns and reviewing implementation of flagship schemes. Along with BDO Koshei Konyak, rural development projects under PMAY and MGNREGA were inspected. CDPO N.L. Tangsoi joined visits to Anganwadi centres, where awareness on menstrual hygiene and distribution of sanitary pads took place.
A health outreach headed by Dr. Ezra, MO Shamator, offered free dental check-ups, oral cancer screening, and distributed medicines and hygiene kits. The tour also covered all nine schools in Sotokur circle, where the EAC and EBRC team assessed the NECTAR program implementation. As part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, pens were also distributed to school children — with a special emphasis on encouraging girl child education.
This outreach showcased the administration’s unified effort to make governance accessible, responsive, and inclusive reaching even the most isolated communities of Shamator district.
