The Wokha District Bharat Scouts and Guides held its Induction and Award Ceremony at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Wokha on 1st June 2026.  

Deputy Commissioner Wokha, K. Mhathung Tsanglao, was formally inducted as President of WDBS&G, while Senior SDEO Wokha, Nchumbemo Jami, was inducted as Secretary of WDBS&G.  

In his speech, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of encouraging educational institutions in Wokha to actively participate in the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement. He highlighted that scouting and guiding, as a voluntary service, nurtures social responsibility, character building, personality development, leadership, practical life skills, survival training, community service, and civic responsibility. He added that it also opens opportunities for career pathways and urged students and friends to join in educating and supporting one another.  

Secretary WDBS&G, Nchumbemo Jami, also delivered a short speech, assuring full support and cooperation for the growth of the movement in the district. The welcome address was delivered by DEO and District Chief Commissioner, WDBS&G, Raphael Zubonthung.  

Awards were presented during the programme: Scout Master of Cistus School, Zuben Tsopoe, received the award for Best Unit Leader (Scout Master), while Guide Captain of LMS, Areni Humtsoe, was awarded Best Unit Leader (Guide Captain). The Best Unit Award was conferred on Cistus School, Wokha.  

The vote of thanks was proposed by Scout Master of GMS Wokha Town, and the programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
