With the rest of the World, Chiephobozou Town Council celebrated the World Environment Day on 5th June 2025 at Chiephobozou, Kohima.

The Town Council has initiated cleanliness drive in the whole town as well as plantation of Wild Apple (Ciepho) saplings. The initiative of planting wild Apple saplings was taken up as the name of the town is said to have been derived from its name. 

During a short formal program  being held at Chiephobozou Town Council Office premises, EAC Chiephobozou,  Moasunep K Jingrü, the keynote speaker of the program emphasised  on the importance of the day by taking initiative and taking care of the environment from one’s own kitchen to the higher level. He stated that the significance of taking small steps like planting a tree and taking care of it for a greener future was the responsible of every individual.

The Forest Ranger Office, Chiephozou has distributed hundreds of wild Apple saplings to all the Wards. The program was chaired by Keviselie Rüpreo, Secretary CTC and invocation was pronounced by Rüvuotuonuo Ruth, Councillor CTC, while the Plantation   drive was launched by Khrielelie Kerhüo, Chairperson CTC.
