During the Zero hour of the Ninth Session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly held at NLA Hall, Kohima on 3rd September, 2026, Advisor, Achumbemo Kikon raised concern over the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) opposing any compulsory singing or imposition of “Vande Mataram” during government and official programmes in Nagaland.

He also stated that this was opposed by the Churches, Civil Society Organisations and Tribal Hohos as it hurts the sentiments of our young and old people of our society. He therefore urged the House to take the matter at utmost priority and bring an amicable solution at the right time and also appealed the NSF to call of the agitation.
