The Department of Information Technology & Communication, Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, conducted a one-day workshop on “DigiLocker (User Experience for Government Application)” and “e-Procurement and eTendering System” on July 18, 2025, at the conference hall of the Directorate of Information Technology and Communication, Kohima.

Speaking at the inaugural program as the Special Guest, Advisor, Information Technology & Communications (IT&C), Economics & Statistics and Evaluation, Sethrongkyu Sangtam stated that DigiLocker and the eProcurement system are two critical pillars of digital governance for a transparent and efficient administration, which is a step towards fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a digital India that provides citizens with an accountable and transparent governance.

He thanked the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) for their continued guidance and collaborations with the state government, which have been instrumental in supporting Nagaland's integration into the broader digital India framework, and acknowledged MeitY's presence in conducting the workshop as a testament to the importance of cooperative federalism in advancing inclusive digital transformation. The advisor officially launched several e-services to DigiLocker, such as birth certificates, death certificates, CMHIS cards, and government ID cards. He stated that these services linked to DigiLocker will allow citizens to securely access their official documents online, thereby strengthening trust in public service delivery.

Commissioner & Secretary, IT&C, Arenla Jamir, in her speech, said that this workshop is an important milestone for the state in terms of enhancing awareness and also launching various e-services, all integrated with DigiLocker for a secure and paperless exchange. She said that DigiLocker is not just a repository but a symbol of efficiency, transparency, and citizen empowerment. Similarly, the eProcurement system has the potential to bring competitiveness and accountability to public procurement.

Highlighting that these tools are essential in a state like Nagaland, she also encouraged all the participants and officials to engage actively in the workshop and to adopt these digital platforms in their departments. This, she said, would enhance efficiency and advance Nagaland's digital transformation, which will directly shape the manner in which citizens experience e-governance in the state.

In his introductory address earlier, Director of IT&C, Er. Sabou Yashu welcomed all the dignitaries and officers from various government departments participating in the workshop. He said that DigiLocker is a platform enabling citizen access to official documents anytime, anywhere, and that the workshop was aimed at empowering citizens and streamlining government processes, promoting transparency and financial efficiency.

Additional Director, NeGD, MeitY, Ajay Kumar assured support for any queries or challenges faced by the departments and stated that this integration will be beneficial across various sectors, particularly in education, MSMEs, and electricity boards, will reduce paperwork, and will improve governance.

A vote of thanks was delivered by Additional Director, IT&C, Er. Asono Mor, and the workshop was attended by senior officers of various government departments and officials of MeitY.
