National Girl Child Day Cum Plantation Drive was held at DC’s Office complex, Meluri on 24th January 2026, under the Theme "Empowering Every Daughter Building a Stronger India", organised by the District Administration and Sakhi One Stop Centre Meluri under the scheme Beti Bachao Beti padhao and Mission Shakti Meluri, 

Deputy Commissioner, Meluri, who is also the Chairperson of DLC-Mission Shakti Meluri, K. Mhathung Tsanglao, in his keynote address stressed about the various legal provisions of the government, to safeguard the interests of a girl child and to do away all gender differences prevailing in the communities. The aim of this flagship programme is to promote female education, self reliance among women, the DC stated that education is a basic necessity to make one self confident, improve community skills and encouragement to society.

President of Pochury Mother's Association, Tvusesü delivered a short speech. The programme was attended by Pochury Mother's Association, female students of GHSS, Meluri, Christian Mission Higher Secondary School and St. Xavier Higher Secondary School Meluri. The pledge Against Child Marriage was administered by the chairperson, CDPO/DPO incharge & DNO Mission Shakti Meluri, Thorhosie Kajiri.
