The State Handloom Expo (SHE) “Hathkargha Mela” was inaugurated at Public Ground, Wokha on 28th October 2026, under the theme “My Handloom, My Pride.” The event was organized by the Directorate of Industries and Commerce in collaboration with the District Industries Centre, Wokha, and sponsored by the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, under the National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP).

Director, Department of Industries and Commerce, Er. Y. Lipongse Thongtsar formally inaugurated the stalls, marking the beginning of the Expo that aims to strengthen market linkages, enhance access, and promote handloom products across the region.

More than 50 stalls have been set up, including over 10 stalls from Assam, alongside participation from various districts across Nagaland. The Expo provides a vibrant platform for artisans and weavers to showcase their craftsmanship, connect with buyers, and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of handloom weaving.

The initiative underscores the government’s commitment towards empowering weavers and promoting indigenous textiles, while fostering inter‐state collaboration and exposure for local artisans.
