At Thonoknyu Headquarters, the political violence between L. Khumo LJP candidate's party, and M. Benei Lamthiu NPP candidate's party occurred on the 19th February 2023 night at Thonoknyu Hq. Both parties pelted stones causing injury to both parties and many vehicles got damaged during the clashes.

Now, therefore Deputy Commissioner Noklak K. Mhathung Tsanglao NCS in the exercise of powers conferred under section 144 CrPC,1973, has prohibited the assembly of five or more persons in Thonoknyu Hq and a perimeter of 200 meters around the Town. Further, no political party shall be permitted to hold rallies or meetings in the said location during the enforcement of the prohibitory order.

But the police, security Forces, Magistrates on Duty, Fire and Emergency services, Educational/Financial institutions, and Departments/agencies assisting the District Administration shall be exempted from the restrictions.

This order comes into effect immediately and shall be applicable till 0600 hrs of 22nd February 2023 or till further orders.
