In a concerted effort to commemorate Child Rights Week, the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) of Zunheboto, under the banner of Mission Vatsalya and the Department of Social Welfare, organized an extensive series of events from November 14th to November 20th 2024 at Zunheboto district.
The initiative, aimed at raising awareness on child rights, involved a variety of activities focusing on child legislations, the Child Helpline 1098, and various child protection mechanisms operational within the district.
Awareness Campaigns/Poster Campaigns were conducted where educational posters were distributed focusing on critical issues like Child Marriage, Legal Adoption, Child Labour, and Good Touch and Bad Touch. These campaigns were specifically targeted at Anganwadi workers, Goan Buras, Village councils, Church leaders, Teachers and Women's organizations.
The awareness drive extended across several blocks including Ghathashi, Tokiye, and Suruhuto, ensuring a wide reach within Zunheboto district. School Awareness Programs were held at Shovishe Memorial High School, GMS North Point and Highland School, Satakha.
A one-day consultative meeting was also held at the DC Conference Hall, bringing together all stakeholders to discuss strategies and responsibilities in child protection. This meeting aimed at fostering a collaborative environment to enhance child welfare initiatives.
The DCPU Zunheboto aims to create a robust framework for child protection through these activities, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in safeguarding children's rights and well-being.
