The Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho ‘Nounyü Rüchü’ on the theme ‘The ardent need to change the mindset and preceptive of educated unemployed youth towards self- reliance’ was held at NBCC Convention Centre, Kohima on 22nd August 2025.
President, AGOK, Neilasa Sopfü in his address spoke on the existential threat caused by the Illegal migrants all over the state particularly in the State capital, Kohima and the commercial district Dimapur, stating that the unemployment problem is directly or indirectly affected by the IBIs as all the menial to the top entrepreneurs are acquired by them. He highlighted the fact and manuals of the population of illegal immigrants since 1991 till 2021 with an accelerated growth rate of 181.67%, in which, by 2051 Nagas are likely to become a minority according to the survey. He also stated that the other reason for our economic drain is caused by the activities of IBIs, in business or in joint ventures, and further reminded the effect of intermarriage between IBI’s and Nagas and the adoption of the migrants.
President, NAGOK, Er. Vipulhou Lhoungu in his short speech encouraged the gathering, highlighting about his struggles as a young engineer. Lhoungu, in his achievement, expressed all gratitude to Almighty God for the unwavering blessings and explained with a verse from the Bible which states in Proverbs 16:3, "Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established’.
He encouraged the educated unemployed to take up training in various sectors or in vocational trainings like painters, electricians, plumbers etc.
President WAGOK, Rokovisa Chase, delivering his address highlighted on the economy status of the Country, the difference between private and government employees, unemployment issues, and the threat posed by the IBIs.
Chase urged everyone to change their perspective to venture in private and self-reliance sector as the government service has reached the limit of stagnancy.
Legal Advisor, AGOK, Vikhozo Vitsu gave detailed information on the business community of Nagaland highlighting that the total no of shops in Nagaland is 23,777 however 17,055 are runned by the non-locals. He also cited the examples of the state of Mizoram and stated that the Young Mizo Association has banned any outsider to own or run any business within their jurisdiction. Further, he stressed on the unemployment problem, economic control, the threats to local identity and supply chain domain in business sector and Unregulated trade.
President SAGOK, Tepunol Yore gave an insight to address the unemployment problem by venturing into various activities in Agri and allied sectors. He gave a detailed explanation on the pros of cultivating commercial plantation crops, commercial horticulture crops, commercial aromatic, and spices crops.
President, CGOK, Er. Kekhrielhoutuo Nakhro in his short speech expressed the perspective of education system in the state. He mentioned NEP 2020 has a lot of advantages by giving skill development activities as well as vocational trainings. He added that by 2030 a stage of ‘working age’ is imminent therefore, addressing the youths, he encouraged them to be trained in any field promoting dignity of labour.
