A free cataract surgery eye camp was successfully conducted at District Hospital, Longleng from 6th to 11th October 2025. The camp was organized by National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI), Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland in collaboration with Longleng Town Baptist Church on the occasion of its 75th Jubilee celebration.

The camp was formally inaugurated with a prayer led by Rev. Pastor Beau, Longleng Town Baptist Church (LTBC). The eye camp was held under the supervision of Dr. E. Phyantsuthung, State Programme Officer (NPCB&VI), Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima. A team of medical officers and staff comprising Dr. Ramdeu Lungalang (Jr. Eye Specialist, DH Mon), Dr. Thejavitui Kire (Jr. Eye Specialist, DH Longleng), and supporting staff from IMDH Mokokchung, CMO office and District Hospital Longleng participated in the program.

During the camp, overall 241 patients were examined. A total of 45 successful cataract surgeries were performed, and 20 presbyopia glasses were distributed to patients in need.

The initiative aimed to provide free eye care services to the people of Longleng district and nearby areas, raising awareness about avoidable blindness and ensuring accessible treatment for all sections of society.

Dr. E Phyantsuthung, SPO, expressed appreciation to the Longleng Town Baptist Church for their active collaboration and support, and to all officers and staff who rendered their services during the camp.
