A Flower Exhibition, Sales-cum-Workshop on Floriculture was held at Tiyi Town Hall, Wokha on 4th November 2025, organized by Wosenro Okho. The event attracted flower enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, and horticulture professionals from across the district, aiming to promote floriculture as a source of income and a means of aesthetic enrichment.
Gracing the programme as the Special Guest, Chumbeni Odyuo, District Soil Conservation Officer (DSCO), Wokha highlighted floriculture as a promising avenue for economic empowerment, especially for women and rural communities, and encouraged participants to explore commercial flower cultivation, citing Nagaland’s favourable climate.
Delivering greetings, President Lotha Eloe Hoho, Thungbeni Ngullie praised Wosenro Okho for its continued efforts in promoting floriculture and acknowledged the enthusiastic community participation. She also appreciated the contributions of Skill Officer, Anuranjan towards youth skill development and community welfare, remarking, “As a flower lover, I feel that without flowers, a home feels incomplete.”
CTO, KVK Wokha, Dr. Mhalo Lungalung spoke on the need to raise awareness about commercialisation and marketing avenues in floriculture, noting that many in Wokha are passionate about flowers but lack access to beneficial platforms. She invited all to participate in the on-spot flower competition scheduled for the following day.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by an evaluation of the flower exhibition and light refreshments. The event was chaired by Julie Jungio.
Later in the afternoon, a technical workshop on “Importance, Scope and Cultivation Practices of Commercial Flowers in Nagaland” was conducted at the same venue. The session was moderated by Erenpeni Kikon, and featured resource persons including Horticulture Inspector, Wokha, Ruth Humtsoe; CTO, KVK Wokha, Dr. Mhalo Lungalung; and Skill Officer, Wokha, Anuranjan.
The speakers shared insights on sustainable cultivation practices, commercial opportunities, and modern techniques in floriculture, reinforcing the growing interest and potential of flower farming across Wokha district.
