As part of the ongoing Living Morung and Traditional Knowledge initiative, the Department of Art and Culture, Nagaland, organised programmes at Kiusam village and Seyochung on 21st February and 26th February, 2026 respectively.
At Kiusam village, on 21st February, the program was held on the topic ‘Traditional Crafting and Weaving’. Resource persons include K Rechongkiu on ‘Traditional Crafting’ and T L Khianmongshe on ‘Weaving’ and T Khaintsu narrated a folk tale during the program. WK Merenba, VCC graced the occasion as the special guest. Villagers from Metonger and Chikiponger also attended the program.
Another program was held at Seyochung on 26th February, 2026 on the topic ‘Traditional Farming’ where Thsachomong and Lirise were the resource persons and Tsichomong, GB was the special guest and a folktale narrator. Villagers from Thangthure and Yangzitong villages also attended the program.
There was a display of traditional farming implements and indigenous crops and the formal programs were followed by a practical experience in the field where the youths were taught and shown the way of indigenous farming.
Moses Newmai, District Cultural Officer, Kiphire spoke on both occasion on the concept of Living Morung and Traditional Knowledge.
