On the third day of the press tour to Nalanda on 19th march 2026, the Nagaland media delegation visited Bhimrao Ambedkar Residential School where students turned classrooms into labs of creativity. A vibrant robotics exhibition featured student - built models highlighting hands-on learning and growing confidence in science & technology.
The delegation then moved to Nalanda University which was re-established in the year 2010, where the legacy of an ancient global knowledge hub is being reshaped for the modern world. With around 650 residential students including international scholars, the university spans disciplines from philosophy and history to management, sustainability and global affairs.
The university’s net-zero campus stood out as a model of sustainability minimizing fossil fuel use, embracing rainwater harvesting and integrating eco-friendly architecture with expansive water bodies and green landscapes. Learning beyond boundaries the university officials underscored Nalanda’s evolving role as a global centre for interdisciplinary education where tradition meets innovation and sustainability shapes the future.
Earlier, the teams also visited the Nalanda Archaeological Site. Briefing on Ancient Global University, tour guide, Anil Kumar explained the layout of the site including monasteries, temples and the Sariputra Stupa. He noted that ancient Nalanda hosted nearly 10,000 students and 1,500 teachers from countries like China, Sri Lanka and Korea. The historical site remains a major global attraction and a symbol of India’s rich heritage and knowledge tradition.
The tour was led by P. Sophie, HoO, PIB Kohima with the Nalanda district administration ensuring seamless coordination and arrangement throughout the day. The delegation will continue its tour till 22nd march 2026.
