The Niuland District Administration, in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Department of Social Welfare, organized the Launching Programme of the 10-Day Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Campaign on 26th June 2026 at the DC’s Conference Hall, Niuland. The campaign was held under the theme, “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchaan.”

            In his keynote address, T. L. Kiusumong Tikhir, NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Niuland, emphasized that drug abuse has become one of the greatest challenges affecting individuals, families and society as a whole. He stated that addiction not only destroys lives and health but also hampers the social and economic development of communities.

            Speaking on the theme, “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchaan,” the DC highlighted that a developed India can only be achieved when its citizens, especially the youth, are healthy, productive, and free from substance abuse. He stressed that the fight against drugs is not the responsibility of the government alone, but requires the active participation of every stakeholder, including educational institutions, churches, village councils, parents, civil society organizations, and the youth themselves. DC, appreciated the efforts of the District Administration, Department of Social Welfare, DHEW, and all collaborating departments and organizations for organizing the awareness campaign. He encouraged everyone to become ambassadors of a drug-free society by spreading awareness, supporting those struggling with addiction, and promoting healthy lifestyles.

            In his concluding remark Tikhir, urged the public to work together with determination and compassion to make Niuland a drug-free district, reaffirming that collective action and community responsibility are the keys to achieving the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat and a Viksit Bharat.

            During the program, a powerful life testimony by a recovering individual highlighted the harmful effects of substance abuse and the possibility of recovery through determination and support. 

            A slideshow on the 10-day campaign activities was presented, outlining the awareness programmes conducted across the district.

            Benjamin Sema, CDPO Niuland and Akito Supervisor, CDPO Office, Kuhuboto, delivered the welcome note and vote of thanks respectively.
