The Deputy Commissioner, Noklak, P. Mono Khiamniungan along with district administration and various department officials visited Kingjung and Wui villages on 4th July 2026.
DC urged the villagers to cooperate in implementing various government schemes and stressed the importance of unity for the overall development of the community. He appealed to the Village Council and the public to extend full cooperation to Census officials to ensure the successful completion of the Census exercise 2027.
He encouraged students to actively contribute to the wellbeing and development of their community. While exhorting the students, he appreciated the enrolment of students in the village primary school and urged them to pursue education with dedication.
Mono also appreciated Wui village's traditional pottery-making practice, preserved and passed down through generations. Highlighting the cultural significance of the craft, he encouraged the villagers to continue safeguarding their rich heritage and to promote it for future generations.
SDO (Civil) Noklak, Vikhoto Richa highlighted the significance of the Thonoknyu Aspirational Block, under which both Kingjung and Wui villages fall. While appreciating the rank one position of the block, he also encouraged and appreciated the community cooperation of the villages. He emphasized the importance of maintaining proper documentation, while applying for various government schemes so that eligible beneficiaries can fully avail themselves of the benefits.
During the interaction, villagers of Wui shared several grievances, particularly concerning poor road connectivity, challenges in the education sector and other developmental issues, and requested the administration for intervention.
As part of the programme, the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Sakhi One Stop Centre, and the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) under the Social Welfare Department conducted awareness sessions on their respective services and welfare programmes.
The Medical Department also organised a medical camp, providing health check-ups and basic healthcare services to the villagers.
Aadhaar enrolment camp and opening of new SBI account were also conducted.
